The free weekly tracks at Nokia's Music Store are usually nothing to scream home about: they're usually relative unknowns. Except this week the free track is Unwritten (Live at the Nokia Green Room) by Natasha Bedingfield - most definitely not a relative unknown.
Check out Nokia's UK web store "Best for Imaging" cell phones. The answers may surprise you!
The same folks that brought you the never-to-be-seen-again Nokia Aeon now bring you their latest design: a wearable device that uses its onboard sensors to keep track of various bits of information around you - the environment, the weather, and your current health.
Miami. Home to movie sets, nude beaches, ridiculously warm weather, and, for two days, the Nokia Star Sync event. The whole trip was a blast (except maybe a little short) from start to finish. Inside: the N82, a ride in a hot-air balloon, my experience being a lousy lip-syncer, and the rest of my fun-filled trip!
It's nice to see that Nokia phone designs have made such an impact on the entire world that some lazy-arse Chinese manufacturers are now copying some familiar-looking phones for their PMP devices.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that DNS propagation is now almost instantaneous. The good news is that the Nokia Phone Blog has been migrated over to a speedy new host, and it looks like the site made it through in one piece.
Unfortunately for readers of the Nokia Phone Blog, I "forgot" to transfer over the images folder, so it looks like those great little pics on the bottom of every post are gone for the time being. Oh yeah, and other stuff on the site is probably broken too. Just to let everyone know.
So that's that. Your normally scheduled blog entries will start right about now.
(Happy Halloween!)
Forbes put together an interactive map showing how many cell phone subscribers sign up each minute in some of the largest regions of the world.
I'm going for the world record in Most Sweepstakes Ever Lost By One Person, and the Nokia Theater LA Live sweepstakes just happens to fit into my plans perfectly.
Fill out Nokia Theatre's little form and you just might win a grand prize that includes a trip for two to Los Angeles, CA, tickets to the concert of your choice, and $500 "spending money". Unfortunately, there's only one winner - no "consolation" prizes in this contest. Remember, if you're not the winner, you're a loser!
Enjoy.
*(the sweepstakes ends October 31, and it's one entry per person)
Okay, so in my spare time I like to make websites that are somewhat functional. My newest project is called PhoneMatchup (BETA), and it was born during the time I was trying to purchase an N95, only to be hit with (in no particular order): fake Noklas, two different official N95 versions, scammers (no lack of those guys!), and a lot of random junk. I also wanted to track phone prices but for some odd reason eBay doesn't release statistics.
So I made PhoneMatchup, and besides the uncatchy name, the bottom line is that it seems to work pretty well. Just pick a phone (not limited to Nokia phones, oh the horror!) and you'll be presented with a nice list of auctions, as well as available pricing data (average prices, high/low, and hopefully more in the future). Basically it gives you a good indication of how much you'll be paying.
The site also tries to filter out the good auctions from the bad, with varying degrees of success.
Finally, if you're going to purchase a mobile phone off ebay, you should probably read my 8 handy-dandy eBay tips.
PhoneMatchup.com: filtering ebay auctions since...2007.
I'll give you the answer in the form of a picture:
That's a really inviting pool.
Tomorrow will be a pretty crazy day to say the least - I'll be flying to LA to attend a Nokia Nseries event at a mansion deep in the heart of Beverly Hills, CA - and all on Nokia's (or is that WOMWorld's?) dime. Very cool.
So what's this exciting, star-studded (maybe) event about? I can't say for sure, but I'd expect it to be a first-hand look at Nokia's sexy new devices announced in the past couple of weeks: the N81, the new N95, and who knows - maybe some Prisms too.
With some wi-fi access and some luck I'll be blogging from Cali late tomorrow night after the event.
After three months of "hard riding" on custom BMW motorcycles, Ewan McGregor ("Obi-Wan Kenobi") and pal Charley Boorman finally reached their destination, which was somewhere in South Africa.
The trip was part altruism (the pair raised money for UNICEF), part publicity stunt (there's going to be a TV mini-series airing in the UK), and part marketing ploy by Nokia to push the Nokia 6110 Navigator mobile phone.
The quad-band 6110 has an integrated GPS, Symbian, and a whole bunch of other fun features.
You can read about the start of the trip here.
...while the Comments form was nice and broken. Now that it's been fixed, I expect to be fully spammed by all nature of scum and villainy once again. And the occasional useful tidbit.
Regular readers and/or commenters may have noticed that you now need to enter a "secret word" thanks to Jay Allen's Comment Challenge plugin. Now, if I could only do something about those Nigerian spam mails...
Bring on the comments!
The Nokia Phone Blog will be undergoing a nice little upgrade for the next hour or so that may or may not completely break everything. Keep your fingers crossed!
Update: my fingers are still crossed.
