5800 XpressMusic won’t be here by Xmas

No XpressMusic for Xmas.

Reuters reports that the Nokia’s first touch-screen cell phone, the 5800 XpressMusic (aka Tube), won’t be hitting some of the more important markets by the Christmas season. It will, however, be on sale in a random jumble of countries: the United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia and Spain.

Well, maybe not quite some random. According to one analyst in the article, the reason for these countries might be Nokia’s strategy of opening up the 5800 first to the “emerging markets”, and then the rest of the world. At an unsubsidized price of 279 Euros ($387 USD), the 5800’s definitely in the affordable range and a lot of bang for your buck.
