The N900 Gets Its First (Major) Update: PR1.1
A massive 90MB update was released today for the Nokia N900. There are way, way too many changes to list here, so I’ll pull out a couple of the highlights:
- Performance improvements in Browser
- Silence ringing by flipping face down
- Lower RAM consumption while capturing video.
- Application Manager UI speed improvements.
- Email faster with large mailboxes.
- Maps: Route calculation and search performance improved.
- Improving WLAN connection stability
- Add voicemail shortcut support.
- HW volume keys always have same orientation.
Quite a number of community bugs were fixed, too. All in all a solid update.

Nokia N9000
Hi,
I find this mobile targets people who are tech savvy, rather than average users.
It pretty much resembles a smartphone with 800X480 touch screen.
It is designed to be used chiefly in landscape orientation, which seems different from rest but to make a phone call it automatically switches to portrait mode.
Firefox is also available if you prefer tabbed browsing and its full host of plug-ins .
Another thing that impresses is just type the first few letters of a name and their contact card appears, or type a digit and the keypad appears..
Cons
• Short battery life.
• Wont attract typical user needing a mobile phone.
Pros
• For peole knowing Linux it exceed expectations as you have pocket sized computer.
• Thus last but not least a phone with capabilities of not only making phone calls along with a tiny computer.
Thus what I can comment is it is a portable computer for masses.
This is an awesome smartphone from nokia and its new update makes it even more smarter and cruchier i must say.Waiting to place my hands on one.
