The Nokia N97 vs. N97 Mini vs. N900 Comparison Table
September 14, 2009

A comparison of the N97, N97 Mini, and the N900.
Considering buying an N900? How about an N97 mini? Yeah, Nokia’s bringing two more touch-screen devices to the table, both suspiciously similar to the original N97 on the surface. But what about underneath?
Let’s see how they stack up. (“winning” features in green)

The original that started it all. |
Smaller, lighter, and cheaper N97. |
Runs Maemo and has a Mozilla browser. And a fast processor. |
| Biggest Weakness |
Buggy; subpar interface |
Still runs S60 Fifth Edition |
No WCDMA 850mhz band, aka no 3G on AT&T |
So what’s the bottom line? Is it that the N900 is just a superior phone over the others? Yes and no. Yes, the N900 is the newest and technologically most advanced phone of the three, so yeah – for the most part it’s better overall. But that’s not the point.
The point is that, with these two new phones, you now have choices as to how you like your fairly high-end touch-screen Nokia phone. You can go budget (N97 Mini), go original S60 5th Edition (N97), or go for broke with Maemo (N900).
Personally, I’d love to pick up an N900 and see how Nokia’s improved the Maemo interface and geared the device towards regular users. S60 5th Edition has been a disappointment, and I’m starting to find myself looking in a new direction.

hey guys thanks for ur help regarding the info about the phones n stuff like that… i think i should go for n97 mini. because its cheaper in price but the same features n more advanced compare to n97 and i put-on jeans everytimes, since its mini it will be comfortable for keeping in ur pockets also its faster.in short n sweet i can say the nokia company has launched n97mini after n97 keeping in mind all the feed backs from around the world..thanks a lot all the best..
Nice stack up! Thanks! For me, I’d rather go broke with the N900 for the faster processor and pretty darn good multitasking capability. It’s time they retire the S60.
Guys, nokia N97, N97mini & N900 are all best phones. To encounter no problems while using these phones, please purchase finland or hungary made phones(i.e original ones) but not chinese assambled(i.e duplicate ones). Most of u guys are being cheated by purchasing chinese assambled ones. In n series, its very easy to find out the duplicate ones. The camera controll comes to the key board. But in original, the camera is not controlled by the key board.
Here are my impressions about Nokia N97 phone:-
The Nokia N97is a trusty reliable phone. Using it for a while now and it is still in really good condition. When it come to pictures we certainly find it in high quality .This phone is a TRUE smart phone OS which means you can download apps for it such as VPN software to connect to your office network
To sum up , all in all this handset offers everything one expects from his/her cell phone.

very good comparison – good job
I am with you that the N97 was not all that I originally had hoped for and I am getting the n900. In all fairness, though, I’ve heard good things about the firmware upgrade, which would make the UI more responsive and use kinetic scrolling throughout.

I don’t think the N97 as the “original that started it all” is accurate relative to the N900 since it is the 4th device in a series with Maemo — and beside being an N series not based on the N97 whatsoever.
True. It was more of a reference to the N97 mini than the N900, although the N900 was definitely stylized after the N97.
