What’s Coming for Nokia: Phone Edition

Nokia's upcoming phones for Q3 and Q4.

Nokia's upcoming phones for Q3 and Q4.

Nokia’s pipeline is looking pretty bare as we approach the middle of Q3. Here are the phones and devices that you just might see in the coming months (or possibly never, like that N97 Mini).

Rumored

RX-5 Tablet: An unknown device that's currently making its way around Rumorville. Pull-out keyboard, unknown size. Could be a phone, internet tablet, or something larger.

N97 "Mini": A smaller, 8GB version of the infamous Nokia N97. The directional keypad has been moved over to the actual QWERTY, and the screen real estate has shrunk considerably. Looks a little *too* similar to the N97 - this could be an early prototype that never made it to market.

N-Series

Nothing.

E-Series

Nokia E72: Nokia's latest take on the Blackberry, as well as the E71's successor. Adds an optical trackpad, better battery life (as if the E71's battery life wasn't good enough, now it's 12.5 hours on GSM), faster processor, a digital compass, faster 3G, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Looks pretty good!

Nokia E55: A strange beast, the E55 is very similar to the E72. but sports a half-QWERTY keyboard (like the Blackberry Flip) instead. Most of the other features are the same - essentially it's a smaller E72 that actually fits into your pocket.

Midrange

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic: An even cheaper version of the 5800 XpressMusic, the 5530 XpressMusic does at least look a heck of a lot more fashionable. Drawbacks: smaller screen (same 360x640 resolution), no 3G, and crappier battery life.

Absolute Budget

Nokia 3720 Classic: Your sub-standard Nokia candy bar. Uber-durable with a leakproof keypad, but not much else. Doubles as a football.

Nokia 3710 Fold: The bigger brother to the 3720 Classic. 3.2 megapixel camera, "hidden" secondary display, A-GPS. Could be far worse.
