Nokia N97 11.0.021 Firmware Update Out Now

July 1, 2009

A couple of days ago, a twitter update from Nokconv (Nokia Conversations) announced an upcoming 11.x.021 firmware update for the N97. It’s out – now.

Exciting changes include backlight fix, transition bug fixes, improved photo thumbnail performance, and widget stability fixes. Oh, and this: “-Device reset when browsing with high speed packet access (for Malaysia)”. I hope “for Malaysia” translates into “For USA”.

Changes that I actually noticed:

- The original unlock backlight bug has been squashed, only to be replaced with a new bug: sometimes flipping the lock/unlock switch repeats the previous action. In other words, if I unlock the phone, then attempt to lock it again, occasionally it will just refresh the screen instead of locking it.

Serie-N.it has a partial changelog for 11.0.021.

To get the new firmware, use Nokia Software Updater. The alternative is Device updates on your N97, but it seems that the firmware update isn’t yet available over-the-air. Ah well.

I am in South Africa, and when I use the firmware update application the Nokia Website reports the latest version as version 10.0.0.??? and not version 11.0.021 is this because of my region being South Africa or has version 111.0.??? been pulled ?

teemot: Most likely it’s your region. Not every region gets updates at the same time.

i hsave a mac, and software updater software isnt compatible with it. Is this just me, or are they that anti mac that i have to continue using a half finished mmobile?

    • ang replies:

Unfortunately, Nokia has always had pretty spotty Mac compatibility.
