Today’s news includes one major update, and one not-so-major update. The latest version of the Nokia Updater software has been released, and probably wouldn’t be very newsworthy if it wasn’t for a new feature: the ability to see what new improvements are in new phone updates. This is huge.

It’s also something that should have been there from the start, considering Nokia’s Device Software Update pages are almost never updated themselves.

The other minor update is for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic firmware, now up to 21.0.025. Improvements include better touch “usability”, “enhanced navigation and e-mail experience”, as well as some bug fixes for the Music Player and browser. And while I’m hoping that these changes will make their way to the North American versions of the 5800 XpressMusic, I’m not holding my breath. I’m still waiting for the latest E66 firmware to show up in the Nokia Software Updater (released March 19 for international E66s). It must be coming by boat.

And for a final bit of news, I ordered a 5800 XpressMusic AND an E63-2. I’m actually staring at the E63 box, wondering if I should crack it open right now. Since I can’t make up my mind, it looks like it’s staying in the box until further notice.
