Lots of Software Updates at Nokia Europe

July 7, 2008

Nokia’s software programmers have been busy lately. The latest updates on Nokia Europe (but nowhere else) include some new apps and upgraded functionality on some older ones.

Nokia PC Suite – What used to be a simple phone-to-PC transfer program is now a huge pile of random stuff. Now up to version 7, which requires a whopping 250 megabytes of hard drive space.

Home Media – PC cataloging application that can connect to your home’s UPnP-compatible media player. Also allows you to transfer files between phone + pc and to use your phone as a remote. Note that Home Media comes standard on most Nseries phones, if not all.

Mobile Dictionary – Nokia’s translation program that supports up to 3 languages at one time. Or rather, 2 languages + English. Compatibility’s a bit sporadic – the Dictionary’s only officially supported on the 5320 XpressMusic, 6220 Classic, and E66, and E71, although it might work on other phones. The good news is there’s a nice batch of downloadable language packs available.

Tablet OS2008 “Feature Upgrade” – For the Nokia N800 and Nokia N810.

More downloads can of course be found here.
