Sliders are the new candy bars. At least that’s what I thought upon seeing the E66, another slide phone to hit the Eseries enterprise line. It’s feature set is pretty similar to the Nokia E71 minus the big screen and QWERTY of course.

Without having to repeat what I just wrote in the last post, the E66 has the same enterprise email and software suite support as the E71, and the same camera (3.2 megapixel). Unfortunately, while the E71 sports a stainless steel casing, the E66 has to make do with mere “stainless steel accents.”

The quad-band slider has a smaller 1000 mAh battery, but the battery lasts for up to 7.5 hours on GSM and 3.5 hours on WCDMA. It seems like Nokia’s finally making some serious improvements in battery life lately.

Dimensions aren’t bad, either. The measurements are 107 x 49 x 13mm, or just slightly longer than the original N95, a little smaller, and a heck of a lot thinner. For reference, the E66 is also .9mm thinner than the original RAZR.

The mystical orientation sensor doesn’t seem to present here – it looks like it’s been replaced by an accelerometer that does automatic portrait -> landscape switches when the phone is turned. I guess that’s good for web browsing but otherwise I don’t really see much of a benefit in having that feature.

Expect the E66 sometime this summer (July?), with a retail price of 350 euros – same as the E71. Choose your poison.
