Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Launches at T-Mobile

Even though the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic was announced last September, it took a good 9 months or so for the razor-thin phone to reach US shores. And reach US shores it did, with T-Mobile to start offering the candy bar next Wednesday.

More details on price, availability, and the phone inside.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic launches at T-Mobile, 9 months late.

Technically, the 5310 XpressMusic is already an outdated device - its successors, the Nokia 5220 and Nokia 5320 are the latest phones debuting under the XpressMusic umbrella. But the 5310 does have a couple things going for it:

  • It's cheap. ($49.99 with 2-year contract)
  • It's thin. (9.9mm or .36 inches)
  • It's not made from cheap plastic. (aluminum finish)

So the bottom line is that the 5310 is a fairly affordable/budget handset that I could've sworn was originally quad-band, except the press release states otherwise (triband 850/1800/1900). Since it's XpressMusic, you can expect stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, dedicated music buttons, expandable microSD memory card support, and an FM radio. It also supports T-Mobile myFaves and has a blah 2 megapixel camera.

If you order the 5310 from T-Mobile, you'll also get "exclusive" preloaded content that includes two songs from bands Panic! At the Disco and Phantom Planet, not to mention a making-of video from the former. And if you act soon, you'll also have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes for even more goodies ranging from "music-themed downloads" to a whopper of a grand prize: a $100 TicketMaster gift card. Which, of course, is equal to approximately half of a ticket.

The 5310 XpressMusic will be available on May 28, 2008 in select T-Mobile retail stores and tmobile.com.
