Lol: $1200 for the Nokia N96

May 29, 2008 in Nokia Phone News

Gizmodo reports that the N96 “monsterphone” (good term for that one) could be coming out as soon as July 31st. The problem: it’s listed at 599 British Pounds, or $1182 US bucks by today’s standards. That’s right – twelve hundred big ones for the big 9-6.

The N96 might be launching on July 31.

The source in question is none other than Play.com, a pretty large UK-based megastore.that certainly knows how to overcharge with the best of them. After all, the Nokia N96′s retail price is somewhere around 550 euros, or roughly 850 bucks. Quite a difference.

Don’t remember the N96? It’s the N95+N81 hybrid phone that’s bigger than both and loaded with 16 gigs of internal memory (and expandable memory on top of that). In fact, it’s so big that it actually needs a built-in kick stand to operate.
