Gizmodo reports that the N96 “monsterphone” (good term for that one) could be coming out as soon as July 31st. The problem: it’s listed at 599 British Pounds, or $1182 US bucks by today’s standards. That’s right – twelve hundred big ones for the big 9-6.
N95 NAM users clamoring for a software update shall clamor no more: Nokia has released the long-awaited N95-3 firmware update (and a month early to boot).

Having been stuck in beta for a couple of months, the official S60 version of Nokia Maps 2.0 is now available for download. Unfortunately, the S40 version is still unavailable – or at least it seems unless you purchase a new S40 phone.

Nokia has a Music Store. It’s been out in various (European) countries for ages now, and, while it’s still not the ITunes that it’s meant to be, for the most part it works well.

So last Thursday I made the trip out to New York City – to a bar called Slate nestled deep in the heart of Manhattan. It’s one of those hip, happening places that I’m not all that used to, living in the ‘burbs. Except it’s a little different from your average bar thanks to the addition of like 20 pool/table tennis tables strewn around the area.
The event at Slate was Nokia’s own “Open to Anything” get-together, hosted by the folks at WOMWorld. A big thanks to Richard, Colin, and Siobhan from WOMWorld for setting up the event and inviting me out there!
