Preview: Nokia FM Transmitter CA-300

One of the more interesting additions on the not-so-soon-to-be-released Nokia N78 is an integrated FM transmitter, letting you broadcast your music through any FM radio (your car stereo, for example).

So I suppose it's no surprise that Nokia released the Nokia CA-300 FM transmitter.

The Nokia CA-300: A Wired, Wireless FM Transmitter

Nokia CA-300 FM Transmitter

The CA-300 has a record number of plugs for an FM transmitter: three. One for your car's DC cigarette lighter, another audio jack for the music, and finally a handy-dandy power plug to charge your compatible (ie small Nokia power plug) Nokia phone. While the actual broadcasting is indeed wireless, the CA-300 setup looks like a nice jumble of random wires and plugs. On the other hand the random plugs are retractable.

The attached "remote" lets you change FM stations and displays them on the LCD screen, so there's no guesswork involved there.

Ok, let's talk compatibility. Nokia's FM transmitter works with the following phones: Nokia N81 (2GB/8GB), Nokia E51, Nokia N810 tablet, Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, and Nokia N82. It should work with any Nokia phone that features the small power plug and a 3.5mm jack like the various flavors of N95s.

Audio quality: to be determined (if I ever get my grubby hands on one)
