Nokia 6555: What's the Deal with the Battery?

Everyone's favorite sexy-back cell phone has a dark side: battery life.

Nokia 6555

The Nokia 6555 = sexy-back + bad batteries.

Normally rated to operate for a monstrous (for Nokia phones, anyway) six hours, in various reviews users are reporting less than 3 hours of talk time.

"The Nokia 6555 has a rated battery life of six hours talk time and 9.5 days standby time. Yet our tests revealed a much lower talk time of just 2 hours. That's a disappointing measurement for a Nokia and for a GSM phone." -CNET's 6555 Review

If you're stuck with a 6555, here's two tips that might help: first, change the Network Mode setting from Dual Mode to GSM (Menu > Settings > Phone). Also, turn off keypad tones (Menu > Settings > Profiles), those unnecessary (and annoying) beeps that you hear when pressing keys.

You have to turn the packet data from always on to use when needed and make it so the phone goes to stand by when the flip is closed. this should help the battery life a lot.
