A little odd: Yamake for N-Gage

February 14, 2008

There’ve been way too many announcements for games, gaming companies, and the like associated with N-Gage now that I’ve given up posting most of it. But then this press release arrived in my inbox: Yamake, as in You (Ya!) Make, not ya ma ke, is the latest “game” for the N-Gage platform.

Yamake is actually more of a mini-game extension tool than an actual game, with the catch/draw being that N-Gage users themselves create the content. The application allows you to add text, pictures, video, and sound to what seems to be already created mini-games, and then share your “awesome” creations with the rest of the world.

It’s too bad that Yamake is missing one critical element of N-Gage: multiplayer gaming. Especially considering that mini-games would be a perfect fit for the platform - quick, multiplayer madness that you could just jump right into. Throw in a simple game design kit, and I’d bet you’d have some pretty entertaining creations in no time.

Of course, it’s still a little early to tell how good/bad Yamake will be, as it hasn’t been officially released yet.
