Garmin’s nuvifone: looks better than the last phone they made

January 31, 2008 in Wireless Industry News

Okay, so while Motorola’s breakup news was big, Garmin’s new phone announcement was even bigger. Although rumors of a Garmin-made GSM phone had been floating around the Web for months, the nuvifone took everyone by surprise with its iPhone-like sleekness.

It certainly looks better than the last GSM phone that Garmin released, the Navtalk:

Not too surprisingly, the nuvifone features a GPS. And a web browser that features Google’s local search. Oh yeah, and a camera. Does this mean the operating system is powered by Android? It’s too soon to tell, but we certainly expect to hear more about it at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona.
