Statistics: 46 New Cell Phone Subscribers Every Minute

Forbes put together an interactive map showing how many cell phone subscribers sign up each minute in some of the largest regions of the world.

The world in terms of cell phone subscribers.

The highest number of new subscribers per minute:

Asia Pacific: 388 New Cell Phone Subscribers Per Minute
Africa: 94 New Subscribers Per Minute
Eastern Europe: 66 New Subscribers Per Minute

And the lowest:

Western Europe: 29 New Subscribers Per Minute
Middle East: 35 New Subscribers Per Minute
North America: 46 New Subscribers Per Minute

Since each region has different sized populations, the raw numbers don't really mean a whole lot. But looking at the percentages, Africa seems to be the big winner - because cell phones have replaced landlines, which weren't very big there in the first place.
