My new pet project: PhoneMatchup.com

Okay, so in my spare time I like to make websites that are somewhat functional. My newest project is called PhoneMatchup (BETA), and it was born during the time I was trying to purchase an N95, only to be hit with (in no particular order): fake Noklas, two different official N95 versions, scammers (no lack of those guys!), and a lot of random junk. I also wanted to track phone prices but for some odd reason eBay doesn't release statistics.

So I made PhoneMatchup, and besides the uncatchy name, the bottom line is that it seems to work pretty well. Just pick a phone (not limited to Nokia phones, oh the horror!) and you'll be presented with a nice list of auctions, as well as available pricing data (average prices, high/low, and hopefully more in the future). Basically it gives you a good indication of how much you'll be paying.

The site also tries to filter out the good auctions from the bad, with varying degrees of success.

Finally, if you're going to purchase a mobile phone off ebay, you should probably read my 8 handy-dandy eBay tips.

You'll probably have to wait a bit until your comment shows up, due to the legions of spammers that have set their sights on the Nokia Phone Blog.
