Preview: Nokia 6555 Phone

August 21, 2007 in Nokia Phone News

Another day, another new Nokia phone. This time we’re looking at the Nokia 6555, a slick 3G flip phone whose main feature is NOT a press-to-open button, but a seamless-back fold design.

A looker from the start, the Nokia 6555 has a clean, elegant design. The external display sports a classy analog clock that complements the phone nicely.

But the main selling point for the 6555 is the fold – the hinge is on the inside of the flip, so there’s no gap when the phone is completely open. Hence all the “smooth-back” and “seamless” hoopla. Personally I think it looks like some kind of weird, futuristic handset.

The other features won’t exactly blow you away. Aside from having quad-band/3G connectivity and a nice, large screen, the phone is Series 40 to the core. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, given the price: only 200 Euros for this smooth-back goodness.

Nokia’s press release reports that the Nokia 6555 will be available next month, so stay tuned until then.

I wonder if there is a way to unlock it. i can get a good price on an at&t model, but I want to use my t-mobile card. Any clues where to go?

i don’t have a 6555 myself, but power saving options are usually in settings -> display (or settings -> general -> display). of course, i haven’t used a series 40 phone in quite a while so this might be a little off…

I really need to know how to set this as well. Its VERY irritating to have it go black so quickly!

I have the same problem and so far it looks like it is non adjustable. Definitely a bad feature!
