Krusell's Top 10 List of Phones

Krusell is a big-name maker of leather cell phone cases, which are usually constructed to fit each phone like a tight glove. The prioblem is, the cases tend to interfere with normal phone functions (see Nokia N80 and Nokia N90 Krusell case reviews) and my experience has found them particularly annoying to use.

So that's just the lead-in for this entry, which starts right about now.

Nokia 5500 Sport

The 5500 Sport made the Krusell Top 10 List

Krusell recently released a Top 10 list of the highest selling cases specific to a phone model - which is interesting because it tells us what phones are currently the "in" phones, no matter what country or region.

Note that this list is for July 2007.

1. Nokia 6300
2. Sony Ericsson K790i/K800i/K810i
3. Nokia N95
4. Nokia N73
5. Sony Ericsson W880i
6. Blackberry RIM 8300 Curve
7. Blackberry Pearl 8100C/G/V
8. Nokia 6233/6234
9. Sony Ericsson K750i/W700i/W800i
10. Nokia 5500 Sport

Nokia's last earnings call did highlight three big sellers for Q2 2007 - the 6300, N95, and E65, so for the most part the results weren't that surprising. but...the 5500 Sport?

The 5500 Sport is one of maybe two phones that Nokia released for the sake of calorie counting. It's designed to be tough, made with a combination of stainless steel and rubber. Kind of like a tire.

Sony Ericsson and Blackberry both had strong showings on the list, which again was no surprise after the two companies reported great quarters.

One last tidbit worth mentioning was the lack of any phones by the #2 and #3 phone makers - Samsung and Motorola, respectively.
