Accessory: Nokia BH-902 Bluetooth Headset

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Continuing in the style of the Nokia BH-903 headphones and the LD-4W GPS Module comes the new BH-902 Bluetooth Headset. It’s probably not much of a surprise to say that this headset, like previous accessories announced this week, includes a nice OLED screen.

Nokia’s Ovi

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Wow. Is all I can say after entering Nokia’s hot new portal called Ovi, which I hereby dub World’s Slowest Flash Site.

According to Nokia, Ovi will be the future of the mobile phone experience – combining N-Gage games, Nokia Maps, and the Nokia Music Store in one place. It even has built-in social networking as per the latest Web trends.

Preview: Nokia N81 Phone

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Back in May I reported the N81/N82 rumor that originated from Symbian Guru. While I have no idea what happened to the N82 (unless it mysteriously transformed into the N77, which is understandable), the N81 is now officially out of the bag.

And now for some financials: Nokia Stock Up Over 7%

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

After Nokia’s crushing ball of press releases was set in motion combined with a nicely timed market upswing, shares of Nokia stock (NYSE: NOK) rose 7.23% to a new 52-week high of 32.18. And a little cherry on top in after hours trading.

This of course follows a nice decline in the stock in the past weak, mainly due to a general weakness in the markets. You can probably work the terms “credit crunch” and “subprime mortgages” into that statement too.

Nokia wasn’t the only receiver of good news – most handset manufacturers were up today (Motorola +1.86%, Research in Motion +5.98%). Even Palm, maker of the widely-hated device called the Foleo, was up about 2.5%.

Accessory: Nokia Power Pack DC-1

Monday, August 27th, 2007

When you needed a extra boost of battery power for your mobile phone, you had to resort to a third-party solution: disposable batteries, solar charges, or even a foot crank. No longer.

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

After releasing a product advisory for over 46 million Nokia BL-5C batteries, Nokia announced that Matsushita would cover all the costs associated with the recall.

According to Matsushita, the estimated cost would be somewhere between $85 million and $170 million dollars (USD).

About 100 of the BL-5C batteries were found to overheat while being charged, but there were no “serious” injuries due to the defective batteries.
