TouchFLO vs. iPhone
The Motley Fool has an enlightening article about one of many competitors with Apple's iPhone device - it's called the Touch, for want of a better name.
The Touch features a touch-screen (of course) but is a little smaller and generally a little cheaper looking than the iPhone. But it's also expected to cost a heck of a lot less than the mucn-anticipated handset.
Manufactured by a Taiwanese company called HTC, the Touch is a tri-band (900/1800/1900) handset powered by the Windows Mobile operating system. You've probably never heard of HTC, but they're responsible for carrier-branded devices such as the T-mobile XDA, among others.
Looking at its other features, we see pretty much the standard run-of-the-mill stuff: 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expandable memory, and a battery that provides up to 5 hours of talk time.
HTC's device isn't really expected to make much of a dent in the iPhone's sales, primarily because it's being released in the United Kingdom first (three weeks before the iPhone), and won't debut in the United States until at least the end of summer - a point when you can expect other similar phones such as the LG Prada.
But it's always interesting to see that since Apple's announcement, several manufacturers have rushed to build strangely similar devices to cash in on the frenzy.
