Lol: It’s the…iClone!

June 26, 2007

What luck! I managed to stumble on a site selling some of our favorite fakes, but this one takes the cake! Meet the iClone. (actually, it doesn’t even have an official name)

The iClone.

You can wait 3 days for the iPhone, or you can buy the iClone right now.

Here’s a higher-quality picture of the iClone:

Attack of the Clones. First up: a knockoff of the iPhone.

Like its predecessor, the NOKLA N95, this is a knockoff that’s not quite right. Sure, it’s got a touch-screen, but a stylus? And are those actual buttons on the front? I do think the matching iPhone background was a nice touch, however. Really gives it that Apple shine.

Note that the giveaway (okay, besides those obvious SEND and END call keys) is that row of buttons near the bottom of the display – all the knockoffs I’ve seen have these, which I am guessing all comes from the same Chinese factory.

This (iClone, knockoff, etc) unnamed phone seems to be yet another dual-band 900/1800 with dual-SIM card capability. On paper, it sounds like a fully-featured handset: MP4 video, TransFlash expandable memory, not 1, not 2, but 6 speakers, handwriting recognition, a 2 megapixel camera.

The stylus also doubles as a phone stand for watching videos: James Bond and his high-tech gadgets have nothing on this phone:

The iClone stylus also doubles as a stand.

And that brings us to the Million Dollar Question: why doesn’t the company that produces the fakes just stamp some random generic name on it and just sell them as generics? Why even bother with the whole charade?

You can buy the iPhone clone for $199 bucks from a generic importer. Available now!
