Can you ID this piece of plastic? (Sony Ericsson HCB-100)
Usually I don’t write about generic Bluetooth headset devices because there’s just so many of ‘em. But the HCB-100 caught my eye because I had absolutely no idea what it was. It looked like (and still looks like) a piece of unidentifiable plastic. It could’ve been a plain-paper copier. Or a weighing scale. Or a million other things.

Let’s try another picture.

That should definitely start ringing some bells in your head. But if it didn’t:

The Sony Ericsson HCB-100 Bluetooth Car Speakerphone attaches to your car’s sun visor and provides a hands-free microphone and loudspeaker that lets you talk for up to 15 hours on one charge. A DSP (digital signal processor), noise cancellation, and echo reduction round out the HCB-100’s feature set.
Functionally, it’s very similar to the Blueant Supertooth II Handsfree Kit.
There’s only so many things you can do with a Bluetooth car headset/speakerphone. Most such devices are either cigarette-lighter-pluggable models (like Nokia’s golf club shaped ones), or the aforementioned sun-visor models. Is there a big difference between the two? Not really, unless you’re 7 ft. tall and always bumping your head into the sun visor.
