Amp’d Bounces Back a Little

June 22, 2007 in Wireless Industry News

y, I wrote Amp’d Mobile’s recent woes and lawsuit against Verizon Wireless.

And as of Friday, Verizon agreed to let Amp’d Mobile continue to leech network capacity (Amp’d is an MVNO, which means it’s a wireless carrier that doesn’t actually own a network, it leases or purchases from the big guns) – in return, Amp’d will drop the lawsuit against Verizon and Vodafone (Vonafone owns a large stake in VZ).

It’s still not smooth sailing for the ailing wireless carrier, however: the company in knee-deep in bankruptcy and owes more than $100 million dollars. (not to mention its total assets are less than $100 million)
