Phone Preview: More on the Nokia E65

The E65 is one of Nokia's latest in the Eseries line of business/enterprise phones, announced at the 3GSM conference a couple of weeks ago. Nokia didn't exactly give the most informational press release about the phone at the time, so we're going to take a second look.

Big, fat and notable features include quad-band connectivity, WLAN/wi-fi, microSD slot, and I suppose the 2 megapixel camera. The Eseries line isn't exactly known for superior cameras, and most of the first line of Eseries phones didn't even have cameras. But this is 2007, and Nokia decided to stick a generic 2 megapixel in there somewhere.

In terms of battery life, the Nokia E65 does a decent job with a 1000 mAh BP-5F battery. The BP-5F is good for up to 6 hours of talk time on GSM, and up to 11 days of standby time.

Not quite a notable feature, but now there's something called "Talking Ringtones" which I have yet to try out. According to Nokia this is supposed to say the name of the caller out loud while the ringtone plays in the background. On the same topic, most newer Nokia phones have something called "Voice Tags" where the Nokia computerized Roboto voice says the name of the caller. On my N80, you can barely hear the voice normally, so this feature manages to be quite useless.

It's no surprise that the E65 runs Symbian, so you can use all those fun applications in my previous blog entry.

And finally, by flashing your trendy E65 at a Gay Giano or Cour Carre store, you can get 25% off spring and summer (clothing) selections. Stupid names aside, I've never heard of either store (guess I'm not trendy?) so I can't provide any more info.
