The Return of the Internet Tablet (Nokia N800)

January 9, 2007 in Nokia Phone News

The newest member of the Nokia “Nseries” is the Nokia N800, an upgraded version 770 Internet Tablet.

The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet

The N800 features WLAN.w-fi connectivity, Internet calling/VoIP support, instant messaging, stereo speakers, and a full screen keyboard. It also looks a hell of a lot better than the old one.

Some things haven’t changed at all – the N800 still runs a flavor of Linux called Internet Tablet OS (now 2007), and there’s a lot of free software already out there. I’m sure with the right pieces of software you could be watching DiVX movies and taking full advantage of the touch-screen (ScummVM, anyone?).

The new internet tablet is available for sale in the USA for a price of $399 US Dollars.

Is it worth it given that more-than-decent laptops are priced in the $400 range? For me, that’s a tough call.
