LG Announces Earnings

Earnings week continues at the Nokia Phone Blog. Motorola's woes might seem trivial compared to LG Electronics, South Korea's star we-manufacture-everything sort of company.

LG posted some bad losses for the fourth quarter, mostly stemming from crappier than expected sales and lower profits (due to competition) on its flat screen displays.

LG's wireless unit didn't fare much better, however. Like Motorola, LG had to lower prices on several handsets to stay competitive, with the end result being smaller margins. While market share fell, LG is still the fifth-largest handset manufacturer in the world.
