Phone Preview: Nokia 6300 Phone

November 28, 2006 in Nokia Phone News

Nokia’s Capital Market Days kicked off in Amsterdam today, showcasing four new models of Nokias: three mid-tier phones and one really crappy one (“entry-level”).

The Nokia 6300 is a mid-tier candy bar form factor that’s slightly thinner than your average Nokia phone. Made of stainless steel, the 6300 sports a look that’s suspiciously similar to the high-end Nokia N73 phone.

We have here one of Nokia’s Thinnest Cell Phones. A stainless steel encased candy bar that goes by the name of 6300.

On the inside, the Nokia 6300 is very atypical Series 40 phone – it has the standard set of features that includes a 2 megapixel camera (no flash), FM radio, microSD card support, and a loudspeaker.

However, there are a couple nice touches that Nokia threw in with the 6300: Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP (so you can hook it up to a good pair of wireless stereo headphones), a nice screen (16.7 million color 2″ QVGA 240×320 one, to be exact), and EDGE support.

It’s a nicely designed, thin and light phone at an attractive price: currrently it’s available for $266 at Amazon.

The steel plate looks solid built! but easy to catch fingerprints…

Is it possible to remove the camera from the Nokia 6300?
What would the consequences be in the software?
