Phone Previews: Nokia 5200 XpressMusic Phone

A couple of days ago we previewed the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic phone. You could call it the front-man of the whole XpressMusic series lineup. Today we'll be looking at the Nokia 5200.

The Nokia 5200 Phone

One sentence summary: the Nokia 5200 is basically a crappy version of the 5300, in terms of looks, functionality, and features.

Seriously, it's a kiddy phone. The 5200 is another tri-band slider phone that looks almost identical to the 5300 - it's just missing those extra dedicated music buttons on the side. The camera is also a lowly VGA with 4x digital zoom.

Sadly, this phone isn't going to be rising very high in life - in the description, Nokia can only describe the audio quality as "good," and not one of the many SAT words that it uses to represent Nseries phones. When a company has to resort to using the word "good" you know that's just the end of the road.

The one nice touch that Nokia added (because it's a music phone, anyway) is the addition of expandable microSD memory. Judging by the impressive feature set that this phone has, I'm surprised they didn't "forget" to put it in.

At least it's cheap: the Nokia 5200 XpressMusic is expected to cost 200 Euros (about $250 USD) before subsidies and taxes. That's as good as free.
