Nokia 330 Auto Navigation Preview
Just when you thought the world had enough of the many, many GPS devices out there on the market, hold on – Nokia’s about to add one more to the mix. Meet the Nokia 330 “Auto Navigation” system.

The Nokia 330 Auto Navigation
Nokia’s acquisition of gate5 must’ve been a smashing success, because I don’t think anyone predicted a standalone GPS system from the likes of the largest cell phone manufacturer in the world. I, like most others, assumed that GPS software would’ve been tied to future phones such as the Nokia N95, due out sometime in early 2007.
Features! The Nokia 330 Auto Navigation features a nice sized, 3.5 inch touch screen and comes with a 2 gigabyte memory card that contains the map information. And since “random” features on GPS systems are all the rage these days, the 330 also includes an mp3 player, photo viewer, and video player. Why companies see fit to add these more or less useless features is beyond me. Somehow I don’t think I’ll be going on a long road trip and watching The Incredibles on my GPS system.
You can customize the Auto Navigation to display in either 2D or 3D, show day or night views, and change the audio language to something else for kicks.
As of now, the Nokia 330 is only good in countries across Europe. However, since it runs the Route 66 software, you might be able to finagle it to work in the States. That’s a stretch though.
The 330 is expected to cost 330 Euros (~$420 US Dollars), and should be available during the fourth quarter of 2006.
