Nokia HS-21W Wireless Clip-On Headset
Ever wanted to look like those Secret Service guys with those funny looking headsets that stick out of your ear? For better or worse, the Nokia HS-21W is the closest you’ll ever get to becoming The Sentinel. It’s a wireless headset that – surprise! – is actually a wired headset. Well, sort of.

The newest wonder of the Nokia Bluetooth Headset world. The HS-21W does have some pretty good features, though. It’s got a battery life of up to 7 hours, and a standby time of up to 180 hours. The earpiece is also made of some kind of magnetic material that allows it to literally connect to the base so you dont have a little thing dangling should you decide to take off the headset. You can also use any standard Nokia charger with the Wireless Clip-On Headset.
There’s just two problems. The first is kind of a marketing problem. Who would WANT to buy a wireless headset that actually HAS wires? It makes no sense. Yes, I know the wire is for a different purpose and the overall design is somewhat innovative. But I think the marketing dept. on this one needed a good jolt of caffeine or brain power or something.
The second problem, while not necessarily a problem, is the lack of Bluetooth 2.0. I suppose the headset is a little older than most other Bluetooth headsets, but still…Bluetooth 1.1 is pretty much the first implementation of the Bluetooth specification (to be honest I don’t think there even was an official 1.0), so there might be some bugs in the system.
The HS-21W weighs 21 grams (isn’t that a movie?), which is 1.02 ounces. At least it’s light.
Hm, I’ve been previewing a lot of Bluetooth headsets lately. Nokia definitely needs to release some new cell phones (or, if someone would be so kind as to send me a Nokia N93 Golf Edition, that would work too)…
