Accessory: Nokia BH-900 Headset Preview
With the absense of any other interesting Nokia phone related news lately (after all, Nokia can't release new cell phones every week ya know), I've been looking at more accessories. Or actually, trying to find cooler ones, or just plan weird ones like the Nokia Xpress-On Fun Shell. And now we have the Nokia BH-900.
The Nokia BH-900 Bluetooth Headset
Now at first sight, the BH-900 looks just like any other Bluetooth headset. That's the problem these days, every new Bluetooth headset that gets released looks just like some other headset. There's really not much originality going on in the Bluetooth headset world.
So chalk it up to Nokia, creator of such fine accessories such as the Kaleidoscope and the Remote Camera, to create another winner. The BH-900 features an innovative (at least, I think it is anyway) sliding mechanism that allows you to extend the reach of the microphone.

Personally I think this is a great feature. The problem with most headsets is that they're just too short and too small to pick up your voice really well. And the headsets that have the extended mic just aren't as portable as the smaller versions. Everyone wins with the BH-900!
The BH-900 also includes a DSP that has some noise reduction and echo cancelling properties. The battery life is actually fairly good too - 8 hours of talk time and 180 hours of standby time.
It also uses the Bluetooth 2.0 specification. Which (for the 10th time) means faster pairing, better battery life, etc with 2.0 supported devices.
The Nokia BH-900 headset will be available in 2nd quarter 2006 (which I believe means that it's out in some places online) and retails for $119.99.

Just bought one of these headsets on eBay. Mine has a black coloured mike extender and the tips of the rubber is also black. Is mine a clone or have the colours changed in the production version? The box and manual were written in Chinese and english.
