Accessory: Freedom Mini Bluetooth Keyboard Preview

July 7, 2006 in Nokia Phone Accessories

I’m always on the lookout for cool products in general. So it was a no-brainer when I came across this lil’ bluetooth keyboard/gamepad wonder.

The folks at Freedom that previously brought you the Freedom Bluetooth Gamepad (similar to the Chaintech one) are now pushing their wireless keyboard. After all, it also functions as a gamepad in its spare time.

The Freedom Mini Bluetooth Keyboard

The Mini Keyboard comes packed with 39 keys, many of which are doubled up. I’m not sure exactly how the Tab button could possibly double as a Left Arrow button, but hey! if it works for you, then why not.

Freedom claims that the battery on the mini keyboard lasts will last for 90 hours of continuous use, or 1000 hours of standby time. The Freedom keyboard operates on 2 AAA batteries.

What I find cool about this (besides the size of it), is the fact that the keys are backlit (big plus), AND are fully programmable. Actually, it’s more somewhat fully programmable, since this is mostly software and operating system dependent.

Nothing’s perfect however: in this case the compatibility for many Nokia devices is way out in left field. So far the only REAL device that I see supported is the Nokia N70 – the other phones supported are oldschool. Ever heard of the 3650?

I like a Mini Keyboard. It’s not the easiest one around to use, but it’s certainly the easiest one to carry.
