Sony BMG Joins Nokia “Comes With Music”
Sometime in the next few months, Nokia will be launching the “Comes With Music” program – basically, a promotion that gets you free music for a year from certain music labels, all with the purchase of a Nokia device.
After the year’s up, the music is still yours to do whatever you want* with it. And if you can’t bear the thought of losing your unlimited music downloading privileges, Nokia will offer an “unlimited access” subscription program for a monthly fee.
So far Universal Music Group and Sony BMG are the only two labels to sign on to the Comes With Music program. As of 2005, those two companies accounted for around 47% of global music market.
And on another note, Nokia opened its Australian online Music Store today, with tracks costing 1.70 Australian dollars (~$1.60 USD) or 10 Australian dollars for unlimited monthly streaming.
