Preview: Nokia 3606 CDMA Phone
Nokia hasn’t exactly been much of a presence in the North American CDMA world. The latest attempt to change that sad fact has resulted in what I’d call the absolute quietest phone announcement ever, with the only noticeable mention of these two phones on Nokia’s press bulletin board. First up: the Nokia 3606 CDMA clamshell.

Because Nokia has done such a bang-up job in the marketing department (at least for this phone), there’s way too much unknown information about the 3606. It has that 6555 sexy-back look, at least from the front (however, I can’t confirm whether it is, in fact, a sexy-back phone) and a design that’s reminiscent of Nokia’s OLED Bluetooth headsets. The 3606 is a music phone at its core, which means stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), dedicated music buttons, support for 8GB microSD cards, the whole nine yards.
The camera’s nothing special – it’s simply a 1.3 megapixel with LED flash included free of charge.
The 3606 does sport the “hidden til lit” feature, which I have to admit I had never ever heard of until now. Not sure what it does either.
At least there’s an official release date: you can expect the Nokia 3606 sometime in the third quarter of 2008.
