AT&T Now Offers SIM-Only Phone Service
If you’re looking to transfer to AT&T, and you just want the damn SIM card, you’re in luck: the company now offers plans without the junk phones and the junk two-year service agreement that usually comes with it.
A SIM-only plan means just that – you get the service, but no fat handset discount and definitely no handset. The advantage is that you can just sign up for a one-year agreement which normally cannot be done unless through the AT&T premier site (more on that below).

For those considering the SIM-only option, AT&T also says that certain promotional rate plans may require a two-year agreement. Example: the iPhone. Still requires two years, and will probably stay that way forever.
Of course, if you work for a big corporation or attend college, chances are you qualify for some nice perks, chief among them a discount off your monthly bill and the ability to sign a one-year service agreement. It’s called AT&T premier, and is still the best way to go when upgrading or signing up for a new plan, but it’s not for everyone.
