Nokia to Launch Yet Another Taco? (New N-Gage)

I missed this one over the holiday break, but Gizmodo reports that Nokia recently filed a patent application for a handheld gaming device that just might be N-Gage #3. (#1 and #2 were failures)

What’s different? This time around, the gaming device actually looks like a gaming device. It’s not shaped like a taco, it’s actually rectangular. Nokia also decided to throw in some new age extendable hand grips that make for a more pleasurable gaming experience. The next contender to Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS? We’ll see.

Just because it’s Nokia, the device will also function as a phone and includes an onboard camera.

And speaking of N-Gage (the gaming platform), Nokia recently issued a statement on its blog saying that an “issue” caused a delay in the release of the N-Gage First Access application. First Access gave N81ers a chance to preview the N-Gage platform as a sort of beta test. It was also supposed to be released this week.

Well, that gives me time to actually GET an N81.
