How-To: Beware of the Fake “Nokla N95″ Phone

May 30, 2007

As if buying cell phones on ebay wasn’t annoying enough already, with a bajillion things that you should know, it’s about to get a lot worse – at least if you’re thinking of purchasing a Nokia N95 phone.

Learn how to spot the fake Nokia N95.

Learn how to spot the fake Nokia N95 in this How-To.

Behold the “Nokla N95″ touch-screen smartphone. A clone of the N95 that’s manufactured by some scrubby company in China. Sellers claim that the phone has a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, and even a touch-screen display! Unfortunately what they usually don’t tell you is that the “Nokla” is dual-band 900/1800 which makes it pretty useless in the USA.

How to spot the fake Nokia N95 phone

The good news is that it’s a clone, but not a very good one. There’s some telltale signs that you need to watch out for when it comes to the N95.

Spot the differences between the Nokla N95 and the Nokia N95 - front view

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two phones, frontal view. Note:

The stylus-driven menu buttons (red box). The fake N95 has a “touch-screen” with a stylus, and the easiest way to spot the counterfeit is by checking this area. If you see a row of little icons (compare to the real N95, bottom), then it’s a knock-off.

Wrong buttons and no dual-slide. (yellow and green boxes) In place of the real N95’s Menu/Multimedia Key buttons, the fakey N95 has a Play button (yellow box) and a Stop button (green box). This is mainly because it doesn’t have a dual-slide mechanism, so whoever designed the knock-off dropped the playback buttons anywhere. And since there’s no Symbian OS, there’s no need for the menu buttons either.

Back view of the real and fake N95s:

Back of the Real and Fake Nokia N95

The Color. The real Nokia N95 comes in two colors: Silver/Plum and Silver/Sand (sort of a silvery-yellowish color). The plum and sand colors refer to the back cover of the phone (which includes the sides too). However, the counterfeit has a back cover that’s black.

Lens Cover Thumb-Switch (orange box). Doesn’t exist on the fake N95, but very prominent on the real thing.

Nokia Logo (teal box). When the two phones are looked at from this angle, note the difference in the logo placement, size, and direction (it’s flipped on the fake).

Some random camera oddity on the fake (purple box). Not sure what this piece is supposed to be, but there’s some random design on the Nokla N95 (the knock-off) that’s in the shape of a 3. Don’t be fooled!

Also note that the buttons on the fake look cheaper and are raised slightly higher than they’re supposed to be.

Some more pictures as a reference (the fake N95):

If an auction refers to a “replica”, “Nokia N95-inspired”, “NOKLA”, or sounds way too good to be true, avoid it like the plague.

  1. nonanull Says:

Hi. I got fooled by a supplier from China saying that he was selling N95. I paid 145£ for it, and it’s not possible to get my money back. i have not get the “thing” on me. what do you thing of it? is it worth to use, or should i sell it right away on ebay? i am so piss off =(

  2. cary Says:

if you paid by credit card, i suggest you call your cc company and do a chargeback. failing that, i wouldn’t sell it on ebay since they’ve been taking down the fake nokia n95 auctions.

  3. Paul Says:

That “random camera oddity on the fake” (purple box, rear picture) is a Three (Hutchinson 3G) logo. They are a well known mobile operator in most of the western world (but not America I guess!). In the UK they are the only company not to offer the N95, probably why the fakers decided to put it on the phone.

  4. Soum Says:

Dose NOKIA N95 include touch sceen? Can I use the tv jack port in any tv?

  5. cary Says:

nope, no touch-screen. the tv av cables can be plugged into any tv with composite inputs (the red, white, and yellow ones).

@Paul: thanks for the info. you’re right, we don’t have Three here.

note to everyone: there are also several versions floating around without the logo, and with a gigantic camera lens on the back. i’ll update as soon as i get some more good pictures.

  6. Soum Says:

    What is price NOKIA N95,93?

  7. Adarsh Says:

Does the NokLa N95 has GPS too?

  8. varun Says:

hello all, one more thing that i have noticed in the fake n95 n real is that , in fake nokia u will find the USB port in the fone is on the left side just next to the memory card slot and in real nokia fone the USB port is at the bottom of the fone, next to the charging socket.and also in the real n95 on the left side there is that TV connecting jack.

  9. Nikhil Says:

Hi. I got fooled by a supplier from China saying that he was selling N95. I paid 155$ for it, but now it is not working it not catches a sim & i dont know pls help me any one

  10. parag Says:

hi i woud like to know if feature wise it has similar features like nokia 95 like office doc. push to talk ,symbian os , memmory , data transfer,GPRS, HSCSd EDGE 3G HSDPA WLAN Wi-Fi Bluetooth Infrared portUSB , mesaging , games ,browser , camera quality, please update waiting as i would like to buy nokla 95.

  11. Omkar Says:

“NOKLA” N95 has only 900/1800 Frequency band and I guess that will not work in America as carrier frequency might be different (850/1900).
There are more of these on http://www.ebay.co.in
Specifications listed are exactly as NOKIA N95, but I doubt if they’re true.
I made the payment and just looked at this forum and came to know about its 2MP camera… Everything else if works as expected, is just fine for me.

    I’ve informed ebay about this false feature;
    Thanks a lot people!

  12. Des Williamson Says:

Who would buy a #499 phone for #134 and expect the real thing.

I bought the Nokia clone on the basis that it takes dual SIM cards (without cutting). It does and it works.

I am having trouble with the bluetooth though: well you can’t have everything.

  13. Frank Says:

Tip: Don’t buy mobile phones from China, people. Easy.

  14. Randy Says:

Recently somebody offered me to buy a ‘Nokia N95′ with touch screen. But after reading comments here I have come to a realisation that it’s a fake. Guess my money is safe now.

  15. Alexis Says:

Seems like its pretty rampant. You can check out the full range of counterfeit mobile phones here at this sleazy chinese company’s website. http://www.eemobi.cn/

  16. Colin Says:

Does the REAL Nokia come with a MicroSD card? I’m looking at a phone that looks exactly like the real phone but there is a MicroSD card included in the box where there is a specifically molded space for it. Should I beware, or is the memory card just not mentioned in any of the literature.

  17. Markus Says:

Well people, I got duped. Someone sold me this Nokla piece of shit claiming it to be the real thing. I got lucky because I paid with PayPal and got my money back. I kept the phone though LOL.
Just for info: It’s a piece of junk! If you think that cell phones were perfect 3 or 4 years ago then you can use this thing. Otherwise forget it. No GPS, no Bluetooth, no double slider, no 5MP camera, no TV connector etc. etc.
    It’s garbage and it’s embarassing.

  18. Royals Says:

im also a purchaser of the Nokla N95. So basically it wont work in Canada? is there any way of making it work or no?

  19. Stefan Says:

I got a fake mistakenly, started a paypal dispute and it’s turned to a I said he said debate. Seller claims I got a real Nokia N95 and just want money. $570 down the drain. Look at buyer feedback folks or prepare for hell.

  20. Dennis Says:

Guy the Nokla phone is waay different from the N95. The only thing the same is the case. The screen caps the icons are all copied and the best way to check is to look at the dual slide option. The fake one cannot dual slide. Also the speakers of the fake are very loud. Has bluetooth and Micro SD functions but thats it. No GPS and all the cool features.

  21. ABHINAV 1 Says:

I almost was fooled by the “nokla” LOL and thank god i was smart enough to opnen the box n i new something was off when i heard it had a game called sushi or sum…..and it didnt have a dual slider n shit…I feel srry for all u CHUMPS IE A.B

  22. millie Says:

i was one of the victims with this N95 and I paid like $400. when I was browsing it, i decided to call the seller and return it. my 2 friends bought a fake iphone too…was a good decision i returned it..it’s not worth it..

  23. Markus Says:

Hey, can someone tell if this one is real or fake:
    http://www.blocket.se/vi/13401780.htm?ca=7_s
He’s selling it very cheap and it includes a 1GB memory card and all.
I have plans to buy that one. The picture is so bad I can’t look for the details to look for…

  24. michael Says:

Well for me it is not important if u buy real one or just an imitation you decide for yourself!.if you dont have too much money why you buy real one it is too expensive or if you want just buy a lower model fake is good also sometimes they lasted for four years and it is money worth

  25. dan randolph Says:

Does anyone know anything about the Nokia N95 8 being sold when they are not even out. It seems these people are using V-flyer to sell them and they are based out of San Franciso. Are they real?

  26. Greg Says:

i just paid $350 for one of these cheap chinese crap moby’s n i’m really pissed off to find out its camera is a 1 megapixle.. And the charger is soooo crap,, i’m scared of it burning my house down.
    BEWARE!!!!!

  27. sujju Says:

MARKUS i checked out the phone at the given web site my friend also has seen the same web page before the phones camera is a little bit high and also the edges of the screen are sharp don’t get fooled

  28. sujju Says:

where can i find softawres & games for nokla n95

  29. sujju Says:

nok L a n95 does not support any softwares easy to detect it just send a sis or sisx file and it appeals “unknown format”

  30. Andreas Says:

Markus it’s a real Nokia n95. You can se that on the blue botton on the lefside the “central bottom”.

  31. mohammad Says:

    I NEED SOFTWARES FOR MY PHONE(NOKLA N95)

  32. gurcharan gill Says:

i just want to know that whether we can access GPRS service on NOKLA95. and also if we can add Radio FM and is there any facility of adding dictionary in sms…pls let me know bye tc

  33. Dreadlord Says:

Actually, I have the fake variant of N95s.

Bad things so far – it has some problems with flash card. Its slot has weird metal contacts and they don’t always detect a memory card inside. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

And, I live in Russia, so this phone comes with Russian language. But it is completely f***ed up – translation was made through translation program and its quality is very bad. I understand English much better that “Russian” in this phone.

Also, when you use touch-screen and stylus to write something, it recognises only Latin and Chinese.

However, it cost me only 190$ (believe it or not), and I think it is a good price for such thing :)

  34. Jay Says:

I take your point on board but I dont think anyone will be fooled into thinking that the Nokla is the real Nokia. But the fact of the matter is that it is great value for money. I paid Rs.4600 for the fake N95 and it is a darn good phone for that money. It would not be appropriate to compare it with Nokia N95 which costs Rs.25000. For this price, you cannot get a better phone with better features. Period. It has everything I want and it can handle dual sims. If you can get it for under Rs.5000 I would recommend it to anyone.

  35. Annoy lille gimp Says:

I’ve got one of these and have had no issues I paid 100 pounds from replicaphones.co.uk Yes they are dual band and the touch screen does work. I cant afford the stupid 400 pound for the real thing. This nobo know nothing !

  36. JM Flores Says:

I’ve seen one of these on eBay. It says “N95 look-alike”. I laughed when I first saw it. Man, people are now faking Nokia phones?

  37. Shahroz Says:

I BROUGHT AN NOKLA N95 WHAT SHOULD I DO

  38. prince Says:

  39. Curtis Says:

hey guys, this NOKLA thing is BIG very BIG business in Africa. People are crazy about it as its way cheaper than the real thing and more fancier. You know touch screen and stuff like that. If you have some just get in touch lets market them here. You will never lose.

  40. mike Says:

can you tell me of any model that is not yet been faked so I can look at them

  41. franco Says:

HI.THE FAKE nokla n95 is the worst and MONEY wasted phone and it dosent work in the states i paid $$$$164.00 and got garbage

  42. kate Says:

its true Nokla and Nokia are confusing if u pronounce it. Someone was selling the phoone N95 to me I read the manual it is really the same with the real nokia but it is blerd on the cam. I read the manual for almost 20 minutes coz i am planing dat day to buy but thanks I remember the news before about the nokla and nokia. 51. Segun Says:

Well, I bought the phone because of the dual sim, and so far, It is working fine. I was not looking for a Nokia N95 but rather i was looking out for a phone that will take two sim cards at the same time. I think the guys should have given the phone another name. I love the technology.

  52. kel Says:

  60. ash Says:

it’s not that bad..but i have seen nokla n95 which looks 99.99% alike with the original nokia n95..it is dual slide, not touch screen and many more..i own one myself,,

  61. lil' dsondz Says:

  62. Liz Says:

I just got scammed into the Nokla, but in all honesty I only paid A$150, and so far I find it to be a great phone, all the features that I was looking for actually work. For a cheap rip off model its not too bad.. All I want is a program disk, so if any one knows where I can get programs etc for it pls let me know….

  63. jandogg Says:

this nokla n95 has been out in the philippines too! and they are selling it for 5 thousand, thanks for this blog and i got to know the fake one, im very glad that this kind of blog exist, tnx guys… cheers

  64. Ripped off Says:

I ordered some nokia n95 8g phones off alibaba, got charged $190 us per phone. when they arived they were bad copies of the old n95.but they were in real nokia boxes with real nokia instructions for the original n95. they were all locked. i lost a few grand.

no one can help, i thought nokia would be able to…

  65. Aby Says:

hey everyone, i was about to get me a N95 for 700 dollars when someone told me not to do so cause i could get me one for 200…got really interested and went to see that 200 dollar’s nokia and trust me IT HAS NOTHING in common with the real one!

before buying something make sure it’s not too cheap for what it is first and you’re not losing anything if you check out web sites to know what you’re buying!

  66. Jim Says:

Hi I have bought so far 3 of these so called Nokla N95 phones and each one has worked fine. bluetooth is working ok and everything else they cost me less than £50.00 each and as a phone there ok. All i will say is if you want to pay £300.00 plus for the real one then fine but at £50 the phones are ok. I used to own a nokia n95 real one and the problems i used to have wiht it was a lot more than these so called fakes, freezing and having to take the battery out to reset it every 3 or 4 days was a pain thats what i call a problem phone.

  67. tony Says:

wich charger does work with nokla n95

  68. N95_owner Says:

I’m not sure if this is a good thing but these clones sure make the price of originals drop BIG-TIME. With the new N95 clones getting more and more comparable to the originals, the prices of original Nokia N95s (slightly used and brand new) in our Country have dropped to around US$350-450.

  69. Jasper Says:

Recently one of my close relative brought two Nokia N95 100% fake Chinese mobiles for 325$ each. Its disgusting to have fake.Guys you can save money but never compromise with quality.Just drop into next Nokia showroom, buy the original with atleast 1year warrantee and no hadache for repair.Enjoy the Nokia N95.

  70. NEMO Says:

The price of real NOKIA N95 is $800.00. You also know the function of NOKIA very clearly. But If you buy it with $155. Have you thought the phone are real? I think you know it very clearly.

  71. Mbot Says:

Almost buy this fake Nokla N95, but after reading this forum and the feedback. I’ll buy ROKR E6 instead……

  72. Richmond Says:

OMG! i never knew that lot’s of people here were experiencing to have a fake n95. hmmm…just hours ago, i was convinced to buy the cloned n95 from my officemate. coz he is selling it at a lower price. it’s just cheap at php7,500pesos. but when i read the comments of the people here, i got confused on what to do. but i like the features and the touch-screen thing…i guess it depends on how u use it, right? But, ill try to find more facts about it tonight before my officemate will hand it in to me.

  73. JAMES Says:

it has beautiful features that you can enjoy, but the problem is can i use tv jack port to it? where can i find games and themes for it?

  74. Dub master Says:

hi people, i bought NOKLA n95 new fixed version for 200$, until now IT IS GREAT. Its got GPRS, BLUETOOTH, 5MP camera, micro SD, TOUCH SCREEN and all works GREAT!!. contact me for where i got it. hahahah im so happy. BETTER THAN ORIGINAL N95

  75. mario Says:

hey! there is another fake model which i happened to buy off china land!- 250 Euros. Its a great 1st grade copy. In fact, the above details to distinguish fakes from original do match. Everything is the same… buttons, camera and shutter esthetics’s , colour, prints, size, MMC, packaging box, charger, phone booklet, dual slide with media player… Only the software, which is not symbian and camera Megapixels which are something around 1.2MP with really shitty picture capture. The front logo (right above the screen) is slightly more cramped than that of the original. And the screen is a normal LCD not like the original N95 screen. The Battery is made in Hungary and is very similar to the original too. Dont buy from china. they do steal ideas and our money… remember… if u pay peanuts,.. u get monkeys. :( .Hope you wont get fooled like we were . gud luck

  76. catherina Says:

I have one. I have to say it’s rather nice and the touch screen is really rather good. I paid roughly $180 for it and it seems to work pretty well so far.

It also comes with interesting choice of MP3s for ring tones.

  77. marlo n uy Says:

what benifits do i get in fake nokia n95? i need an anwer now!!!

  78. ADRIAN Says:

I HAVE USED USB TO CONNECT TO PC BUT MY PC COULDN’T FIND IT , HAS ANYBODY TRIED? IS THERE S WAY ONE CAN DOWNLOAD IT’S PROGRAM FROM SOMEWHERE…I BOUGHT IT FROM LAOS FOR USD125

  79. chebbie Says:

look all I want to know, what does the fake one has as characteristics?
it got camera, can take pics, i heard it’s 2mp can handle memory card, can listen to musics?
    do we have all these?
if yes and for suck a small amount of money i’m ready to buy one.

  80. Sat Says:

Y go for branded mobiles when they dont have product value consideration. A new mobile release in branded for 30k and by the end of one year it comes to less than 8K.
I think better ppl go for non branded for less prize (use and thro) say if we buy for 5k use for 6 months and thro get another one so u lose 10k ina year, where as in branded the mobile drop more than 20k….
Its time for People have to think and question the branded owner for the huge prize, just for its brand

  81. jams Says:

hi. i recently got fooled into buying a fake nokia n95 by a chinese owned store here in our city. out of embarrassment for having been taken for a ride, i didn’t try to return the phone after realizing that what i bought was an inferior imitation of the original.the video was horrible, the pictures look muddled and couldn’t adjust to the light..though cheap, i still feel cheated for having paid for something that couldnt give my hard-earned money’s worth.

  82. fake_n95_black Says:

    i bought fake n95 black.
wifi is working, camera is 2mp, no tools menu, powerbutton only for off/on(no menu), usb not working, no iR menu, but has IR..(cant turn on coz no tools menu), no maps, and good thing i just bought it on a local store here, and im about to sue them… zzzz.. i was about to keep it coz the only thing missing are IR and camera of 5mp.. thats ok.. but fuck the USB aint working.. and if i plug the charger.. it says usb unplugd.. duh!!

  83. Daniel Says:

Hey guys, don’t I feel stupid. Here I am visiting China and came across a shop selling this S#!T, I hadn’t done any research and brought two of them as x-mas presents for the kids. I paid $2500RMB (AU$410) for both. I intend to go back tomorrow and give these chicks that sold them to me a peice of my mind. They are crap, non of the features that you would spend that kind of money even present. Being China I don’t know how I will go getting my money back, but have faith fellow ripped off I intend to spit in the faces of these shisters! Hope that is some compensation for you all.

  84. clarenz Says:

can anybody help me find ways to fix the software for my nokla 95?

  85. jhayr Says:

Can i download a games or themes frome my nokla 95 trough p.c? wat should i do? pls help me

  86. Jensen Says:

when i bought the phone, N95, they told me that its a 3G phone (with dual camera). But when i found out with local people, they told me that i need to unlock the 2G system in the phone, u have any idea on it?Thanks

  87. n95_user Says:

I’m so pissed off!! my dad got fooled also! damn! my dad paid $700 EACH!! and he bought 2 units… this “NOKLA” thing, was a shit… damn! I’m very mad… sorry… its not easy to be fooled with…

  88. nat Says:

Actually the Nokia N95 also comes in all black as well.

  89. mathew Says:

hi, someone offered me a Nokia N95 and she said it was a replica. But it wasnt a touch-screen and looked like a Nokia N95. It was written on the phone Nokia and not Nokla and its buttons were like a reguler N95 but it was only 3 megapixels. so, what should i do?

  90. HateMe Says:

dont forget the spelling at the back of the cam. the fake cam spells “Carl ZESS” instead of “Carl Zeiss”… Nokia should do something… Chinese people will really do anything just to sell their products.

  91. Emad Dehnavi Says:

Hi…i buy nokLa N95 in iran with only $100 … i hear about this fake and i know this is a fake , but i think $100 its suitable for this phone ;-)

  92. sean Says:

Hi guys, Im in the UK and I bought one from china, not knowing it was a fake, but im actually really impressed with it, it slides both ways, looks exaclty the same as the original ( its the black one ) , the camera is alright, the only thing it doesn’t have is the 8gb memory ( im buying an 8gb micro sd card from ebay for £40) and the gps ( which i’d never use ).
So for £100 pounds i think it turned out alright…

  93. joel Says:

    guyz..

its just easy to detect if the n95 is fake or real.

in the battery it is written “Nokla” which is absulotely wrong and very far from the word “Nokia” you have to use your eyes guyzzz to not waste your MONEY, and everything. It might blown up also and perhaps it will be blown inside your room, house..
So be careful, be wise in buying mobile phones..

  94. tammy Says:

Its awful the way these folks in China are fooling people. I am a victim in Georgia. Can anyone tell me what company will turn on the phone?

  95. Anonymous Says:

What cellular service will turn on this thing? Does anybody know? By the way the site that sold me my junk is http://www.pickyourorder.com. Please stay away.

  96. Will Says:

Thank God, I’m not the only one being fuck*d. I just called Amazon today to report a counterfeit Nokia N95 8GB. yes! they counterfeit the 8Gb already.

I was so pissed when I realized it is counterfeit. The screen has icons in the bottom. Screen measure 2.5 ”
(The original is 2.8″) The Play, Forward, Rewind Pause,Stop buttons on the top slider are ridiculously just fucking “prints” not really a button, just a goddom ink of arrow plays. There is no symbian OS, Camera quality is low, video capture is is fucking 3gp low quality compair to the real N95, it is mp4. No GPS, No Wi-Fi, And the worst thing about is I paid just as the same amount as what I would pay for a real N95 8gb… God forgive me for my bad words today.

  97. Karl Young Says:

I have been using NOKLA for the past 9 months. Its been given me very good service. I have never had a problem with the software or the battery as a matter of fact no kinda problem. It is advisable for you to buy it. It is quite chep and available in the city of Bilaspur….this is in 36 china town. (Chhattisgarh)

    All the best guys…

  98. Stuart Friedman Says:

There is a NokLa n95, ver. 2.0 out. The phone is triband, no touch screen, and apparently a version of the Symbian OS.

  99. Aga Says:

Other fake nokia phones are already out like n81, n93i, n82, nokia 6120 classic, nokia 5310 . I was fooled once when i asked about the 6120 on a store near my place. I asked if how much it will cost me if i trade my n71 for a 6120 classic and the shop keeper told me i only need to add Php 500 for the trade. I was shocked about the price. I asked him if I could take a look at the phone and I was disappointed. The screen resolution was not like it should be, the screen was smaller than 320×240, the menu wasn’t anything like any s60v3 phones and there were no nokia application installed. Another phone i looked at is the 5310. I already knew it was a fake because of the opening image. the sound was kinda annoying and the graphics of the two hands holding each other is too slow. Another phone was the n93i. I was kinda intrigued when i saw it so I asked if I could look at it. When I opened the phone the inside didn’t look anything like any n93i. It has a touch screen and no menu button. the camera was not 3mega pixel and the screen was way much smaller. I’m kinda disappointed cause these 3 phones that I looked at was the 3 phones I really want to have. I cant believe that they can already make fake nokia phones.

never buy mobile phones in china.

  105. Jamal Says:

there are more than one counterfeits of the nokia n95. you might think your buying an original but it is also a fake. ask questions before you buy!

  106. jhay-ar Says:

  107. pete Says:

I just bid on one on ebay uk, I didn’t notice the body said “not Nokia”. Anyway ebay de-listed pretty quickly.

  108. Christine Says:

Theres a lot here in the Philippines, thers a phone that have come out, dual slide, good nokia colr, ok buttons. Pretty much the same with the original nokia n95. The only difference is the price: Original N95 – almost 30,000.
Fake N95, but really the same like original, 5,000.

    how about that.*damn*

Please if anyone can feature here how to spot the fake ones, please do. thnx

  109. whatthe Says:

I have bought the nokia n95 clone a trust me its worth it!!!I dont have any problems i got the quadband version!it depends on different version,Im am happy for my choice and the price i paid:):)dont worry its all good

  110. Alex Says:

I just recieved a Nokia N95 which I bought on ebay from a UK seller. After unpacking it I wasn’t sure about the feel of the phone, it felt cheap. After switching it on I was pretty sure that it was a fake – very loud speaker even after turning the volume down to the lowest setting, very poor quality menu screen with icons that differ from the real nokia menu. No WLAN connectivity, poor user interface and generally not a real Nokia.]
It is obviously a latest generation fake, it has a dual slide screen, the correct tv jack (but no cable), usb slot in the right place, a 1Gb micro sd card but no phone memory (Should have 150mb)

I am about to start a dispute with ebay to get a full refund, including post and packaging!

    I’m not happy!

  111. jeSa Says:

hey how can i know if my n95 is fake?can anyone tells me?as i read my n95 is similar and its “not fake”.but one question is why it doesn’t read on my computer?when i plug the usb cable on the usb port it doesn’t read why????/pls answer my question…

  112. Jayson M. Says:

I am planning to buy a N95 8gb when i found out that there are already clones being manufactured here in my place.. Can someone also do a spot check on the real and fake N95 8gb? It has all the features i like, but how did they ever thought of removing the lens cover that was in its predecessor, i think that was a great feature they took out from the orig. one. i can understand why they removed the memory card slot, but not the lens cover… D-UH! anyway, guess I’ll have to pass on this one until NOKIA can make (or has already) a touchscreen smartphone… and take the lens cover back…

  113. monika Says:

hey has anyone bought a phone off dhgate.com and are the imitations just as good as the real ones as in usuage or not

  114. vrusko Says:

i already got N95 8GB, and i got it half of the price than that of NOKIA store. personally, it looks the same with the genuine N95 or genuine N95 8GB but as soon as i try to register it on myNokia, once entered the imei number(serial no#) the fone model appears N70. How is that possible? is it fake or not?

  115. maataisa Says:

the bluetooth icon has dissappeared reccwntly and when i insent a sim into and it the phon eis not working ti foes off and on pls help me

  116. leanne Says:

China phones is also sold here in the Philippines. Like N95, iphone immitations.

It’s very cheap though, but it doesn’t have warranty. It seems like China is the No.1 country when it comes to selling “fake” phones.

  117. Dgette Says:

They almost got me. They wanted me swap my Nokia 6680 with their new Nokia N95 but when I touch it, the phone is very light weight and the picture of the screen is much a little bit too neon in colors compare to a real Nokia phone and so as the pixel of the camera is not that cool as I wanted it… so.. just beware…I guess the best way to buy a Nokia is in it’s Nokia Center itself.

  118. Ameer Says:

    Hi,
I have also a fake N95 matching almost all criterias of above. But my bluetooth works, USB cable works fine. But Camera doesnt seem to be 5 MP as noted. It connects to PC very easily in “Mass storage/Com Port/ Webcam”.
But it doesnt be detected by the Nokia PC Suite Software. Can I Update the Phone software in any other way…?

  119. Jen Says:

Ufff what a mess with these Nokla buyers. Just some notes:

    - Nokia as a Finish company manufactures not only there, but all over the world. NSeries in particular are mostly manufactured in China,Finland,Canada and UK, so the thing that is from China doesn’t mean it is fake as first instance.

    - Some of the phones sold in ebay or other webpages at so much lowerprices than the carrier’s or Nokia stores, are normaly either fake or if you are lucky, they are real ones, but prototypes (funtions won’t work best ‘cos they are not final releases) or they are real but stolen (you can also check the IMEI’s and type of phone when you remove the battery, to make sure it is a real Nokia phone).

    - People who is happy with the Nokla fake phone were not suppose to be the target of the N95 in the first place, ‘cos they probably bought it ‘cos they heard it was cool and the best, but they don’t really needed what the Nokia N95 offers, which is so much better than iphone and so much ahead of its time (Integrated GPS, Wifi, 3G, Quadband, excelent cameras, as it has 2, bluetooth stereo A2DP if you are into wireless technologies, windows messenger, Fing VoIP, Flickr and Vox software, Nokia Maps, until 4gb micro SD memory, the new N96 has 16gb of internal memory, push email, push to talk, you can play your movies, everything a techy person needs (so far of course…lol)

    - Nokia has already touch screen devices, but they are internet tablets. Soon also phones or multimedia computers as they call it now.

    - If you really needed the N95 all functions and got fooled ‘cos you thought you could pay less for it, or just couldn’t afford it try to make a reasearch and think what’s best, there are many ways of getting a N95 or others directy from the Nokia online stores (so much better cos they are SIM unlocked) and you can pay with credit card sometimes 12 months without interests, etc. check on your country Nokia Flagship store or online store. Nokia gives production priority to their direct sales stores, so less risk to have a damanged phone and if something happens, they change it for a new one right away.

    - When somebody wants to use all the features of the N95, has to have unlimited internet package, or use wi-fi a lot. If you get it with a carrier with a plan that suits you, normally the phone is for free (of course you sign a 2 year contract) I pay 30 euros per month with unlimited GPRS internet and the N958GB was for free when I extended my contract. It is worth it, because to use all the features you are a person that is online all the time blogging, uploading pictures, chatting, using VOIP, which is cheaper than making regular calls, you would save more money at the end when you invest in the original, than in a fake replica.

    - When you buy a mobile phone, make sure you use google to search what is the best phone according to what you need/use, there are great blogs like this one, no only Nokia’s, where you can compare the phones and see what’s best for price, there’s a Nokia phone for each one of us.

    Good luck!

  120. Bander Shabib Says:

Am a very loyal customer of nokia, 26 years old, never ever bought anything but nokia. And just the other day i bought a nokia N95 -8GB. And it turned out to be fake, u have no idea how bad i feel. i do blame nokia for not putting out ads to warn us loyal & ordinary customers.

  121. harold Says:

actually guys, what the poster originally said is right. There are fake n95’s however, the real n95 also comes in bvlack color on the back. Not only plum and silver. It is true as it is in nokia.com

  126. bob Says:

  127. Ken Says:

i bought one of these fake nokia phones too.. i am so freaking mad … but this Nokia N95 8GB looks EXACTLY like the real Nokia N95 8GB … i checked the firmware it says:

    [Version]
    N95_8GB.V01
    [Branch]: 06B JIA8GB
    Build: Nokia
    Serial #: MT012345678901234567
    [Build Time]
    2008/3/29/ 23:17

and the USB doesnt work… so f*ed up!

  128. Austin Says:

The “camera oddity in the shape of a 3″ is the logo for a Hong Kong based mobile phone service carrier, obviously called 3. Haha.

Just thought I’d let you know.

And I seriously hope that the carrier would not “pick up” cloned phones. That’s pretty sad!

  129. oliver Says:

why try to look at the new imitation on nokia n95,not only the looks but even on its features and application are both almost the same.it is really difficult to tell which one is original and which one is fake.today imitaion on nokia coming from china are getting better and better.

my usb or charger has broken and ive got no idea how to charge my phone can any one of you help me urgently

  143. Chris Williams Says:

People, whatever you do… DON’T buy any Nokia fakes.

If you do not buy NokLas or God knows what they’re called these days, there won’t be a market for these phones. This will bankrupt the Chinese companies selling the fakes, which is a good thing.

Finally, to all the people experiencing problems with the phone – sorry about it, but there’s only one solution… remove the battery, burn the phone and buy an original Nokia.

  144. Yoyo Says:

I bought one in shanghai yesterday for 80€, it is actually a good copy, no touch screen here. User interface looks just the same, and so does the phone…
Of course I knew it was a copy, as I bought it on the street in front of our hotel.
I got phone, charger and an extra battery for 80€, but no box nor instructions nor any other kind of extras. Everything came full of Nokia logos and hologram stickers, from the charger to the batteries or parts …
Came with some MP3 music by April Lavigne in it too!

  145. Hisham Says:

Still i bought it at P4,000 only. The unit is really worth more than its price. Believe me i feel so lucky for this purchase….

  151. K Soriano92 Says:

The purple box with th “random” ‘3′ design, that’s not just sum random icon, it’s the logo of Europe’s “3 Network”–much like are AT&T and T-Mobile. It was probabaly put on to make it look more legit.

  152. Julia Says:

You are all stupid for not asking questions about the phone. My friend purchased one and after filing a dispute with paypal he lost. Paypal awarded the seller to be correct because the item did match the descriptions. It was my friends fault for not enquiring and getting too excited by the sale price.
Buyers have to be more careful that’s all there is about it. Whether it is mobile phones or designer handbags.
I know someone else who purchased what was described as a “prada” purse. She lost the dispute via paypal also because even though it was a fake it still matched the description.

  153. shugri Says:

They sell those fake cell phones in philippines they advertise them as China Phones, they have many different models copying all different popular models of cell phones and some original ones I even saw a Hello kitty and a Mickey Mouse one , cost about $80-150 have touch screen TV tuner, etc beware the software on the phone is not Nokia you cant download games or apps, the software is full of bugs and if it breaks good luck finding parts, cant even find someone to fix them in philippines One notable feature that makes them easy to spot is that they all seem to have that same overlay strip of touch screen buttons on the bottom of the screen as shown in the pic at the top of this page in red. My wife had a LouisVuitton one very nice looking big screen but after about 2months the charger quit and couldnt find another charger anywhere. You also couldnt change the tones from those annoying built in ones.
I although did like the fact that the phones speakers were very loud much louder than a N95 and you could use 2 sim cards(two cellular providers)in one phone. Speakers just died on my real n82 POS and I dont even play music that loud. most phones are made in china anyway they just figuerd they would cut out the middleman I guess, if the quality goes up and they stop coping the look of other phones like N95 and go original with tech support. nokia may have some competition
