Nokia 1650 and Nokia 2660 Phones
In one fell swoop, Nokia announced seven different phones aimed at emerging markets. In other words, cheapo phones.
Still, cheapo phones ARE getting more technologically advanced. Here’s a look at two of them: meet the Nokia 1650 and the Nokia 2660 phones.

The Nokia 1650 Phone
Designed for the budget-conscious, the 1650 has a couple redeeming features: a flashlight (no comment), FM radio, and “MP3-grade ringtones,” which I believe stands for AAC. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as if the Nokia 1660 comes equipped with one of the more useful options – a loudspeaker.
It does, however, have an interesting built-in application that allows you to set a timer on each phone call. There’s definitely some potential uses for this application in any phone, much less a super entry-level phone. So why isn’t this in every phone?
Well, should you wish to purchase the 1660, dealers will probably pay you to take this phone – and I don’t mean that as a joke either – the retail cost is 55 Euros ($74 USD) before any discounts.

The Nokia 2660 Phone
The 2660 is almost a polar opposite to the 1660, with a clamshell form factor, dual screens, and a fairly normal feature-set. It’s nothing spectacular – pretty much the things we take for granted. Bluetooth, GPRS, FM radio, real MP3 ringtones, and integrated loudspeaker. Unfortunately, no camera or even a flashlight on this baby.
The 2660 is expected to retail for 85 Euros, or around $115 bucks.

Both the Nokia 2660 and Nokia 1650 phones will start shipping sometime in the second quarter of 2007.
